AWESOME PERFORMANCE AT THE PROVINCIAL TRACK MEET

Lakecrest had an awesome day at the track in the Hershey's Provincial Meet this Sunday !

There were an average of 40 people in each event.
Out of 20 events for our 7 athletes, we took home a total of 11 ribbons, for finishing in the top 8!
But it gets better!!!....

Harshal Deshpande, Grade 6, won the 100m and the 200m with times that won the North American Finals in Pennsylvania last year! He has a very good chance of qualifying for that meet this year in August!!! That will be an amazing thing for Lakecrest, but also for Newfoundland... perhaps a first!

Maggie Connors, Grade 4, took 1st place in the 200mm and 2nd place in the 100m, and 6th place in the standing long jump!!! She also has a chance to qualify for the North American Final in Pennsylvania!

Sarah Woodford, Grade 3, is the champion in the 50m Dash!!!!! She is also excited about the possibility of qualifying for Pennsylvania :)

Maggie Tautfest, Grade 3 came 4th in the 50m and 5th in the 100m.

Deepal Despande, Grade 3, came 1st in his heat for the 50m, and 7th overall.

Charlotte O'Leary, Grade 3, and George Walsh, Grade 4, did not make the finals, but did a great job, were very spirited and are motivated to strive for their best for next year!

It was quite a day competing against schools from all over the Province, including Stephenville, Clarenville, the Southern Shore and many St. John's, Mount Pearl and Paradise schools.

I was very proud to hear how often Lakecrest was announced as winners! :)
