Discover the Lakecrest Advantage

Enriched Academic Curriculum

We challenge the most highly able learners. Lakecrest offers an engaging and strenuous academic program. Enrichment is built into the design of daily lessons at all grade levels. By law, we are required to teach the provincial curriculum outcomes set by the Department of Education of Newfoundland and Labrador. We strive to exceed those criteria by enriching the curriculum to bring out the best in our very able student learners. From our full-day Kindergarten Program through to our Grade Nine Program (including the opportunity to complete some first year high school credits) we work to challenge every student to the full extent of his or her capability.

A History of High Achievement

Our students score well above provincial and national standards in achievement tests at all grade levels.

Small Class Size

Personal attention means better learning. Our average class is currently 14 children per class.

Full-day Academic Kindergarten Program

More then TWICE the instructional time of half-day programs at other schools.

Enhanced Music and Physical Education

More then two hours of Music and Physical Education class every week.

A Variety of Extracurriculars:

Involvement in after school activities promotes personal and intellectual development.

Diverse Student Population

The majority of students are from local families. They mingle with classmates from around the world

Lakecrest is more than just strong academics.

Every interaction in our school must take place with respect. Students have a right to feel safe and valued in school. They have a responsibility to treat others with the respect that they themselves deserve. Children at every grade level are challenged to take responsibility for their learning and for their behavior. This mutual respect ensures an atmosphere where everyone's learning is enhanced.

The development of responsible citizenship is a key goal at Lakecrest. Through learning opportunities like our active student council and our "Study Buddy System", which pairs senior students with younger students, our students develop social responsibility, leadership skills, poise, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our Invitation to You.

School visits can be arranged on short notice. We invite families to have their child spend a day with their potential classmates. You will see students at every grade level focused and engaged in meaningful learning all day, every day. Parents owe it to themselves to explore the best options for their child's education.
